As you may have discovered, there are many different styles of Bibles!
Some Bibles have colorful pictures and maps. Others have study guides and notes. Some Bibles use literal translations from the original Greek and Hebrew manuscripts. Others use modern, everyday language. Some Bibles are very fancy, bound in leather and trimmed with gold. Others are paperback. You can even find the Bible on the internet!
The best way to discover which Bible is right for you is to visit your church library or local family bookstore and look at their selection of Bibles.
Hold the Bible in your hands. Open it up. Flip through the pages. Read a few passages. It is important that you have a Bible you can understand. This is because God wants you to understand what the Bible has to say about Him and His Son Jesus. God wants you to understand how much He loves you! (Colossians 2:2; 2 Timothy 3:15 – 17; 1 John 3:1).
If you can’t afford to buy a Bible, talk to your pastor, youth minister, Sunday school teacher, or other trusted adult who loves Jesus. Tell him or her that you would very much like to have your own Bible. God wants everyone to have a Bible. And that includes you!
