How To Maximize Your Mind This Last Month of Summer

text (1)

Summer is in full swing, and if you are like me, we are playing zone defense these days! Man on man is completely out of the question with all the kids home enjoying summer! Life is crazy, awesome, sad, happy…any emotion that you can think of! Most days, the scene in our home is full of joy and laughter. Yet, there are days in my head that I question everything I am doing.

Am I doing it right? Are my kids having fun? Why do I even question this as the house is full of laughter?

The enemy is out there and he is doing his best to attack us, to break us down, to get us in a place that he wants us to STAY and NOT be happy. Not be open to sharing what God is doing for us. He wants us to be down and rotten and have a crummy attitude, because when we have a bad attitude, people don’t want to be around us. When we have a good attitude, people wonder what we know. Then we can tell them all about what Jesus is doing in our lives! Yet, there are days when there is joy all around and we can’t seem to see the joy in the littlest things. We don’t even smile when our sweet children beam with delight as they do something for the first time.

That’s basically how the summer was going for me from time to time. I would have a wonderful time with my family, and then the next day I would questioning everything I was doing and doubting whether my children were even having fun at all. Doubting my abilities as a Mother. Doubting their love for me. COMPARING myself to anyone out there that looks like they have their whole life together. Yet, I was comparing what was made up in my head about myself to what was made up in my head about what I’M seeing about that person I’m comparing to.

I have made a vow…one to myself as well as a silent one to my family: No more comparing.

Just living in the moment and living for the future. It doesn’t matter what anyone else is doing…I AM DOING MY BEST! Whether I believe it or not, I am telling myself daily. It sure has helped my attitude personally, and I am sure my family has noticed as well. At least, I hope they have.

You are doing it, Mommas! You are doing the absolute best that you can do.

And if you don’t feel it…just say to yourself, I AM DOING MY BEST. Say that enough times, to yourself…face to face in the mirror…and I guarantee it will become reality in your head and in your heart.
