Summer is all about fun and frolic, tossing schedules out the window, right?
Not exactly, according to Chrys Howard, co-author of “Duck Commander Happy, Happy, Happy Stories for Kids”.
“Summer to me is like New Years all over again; you can start something new. It’s an awesome time to work on new skills, including social skills, with your children. Social skills and character traits are two things parents really need to work on with their kids, and summer is a great time to do that.”
Howard co-authored the book with her daughter, Korie Robertson, from Duck Dynasty and the two have compiled years of family memories and true stories from the Duck Pond.
In fact, the book is full of lessons, discussion questions and practical advice from the Robertson’s life experiences, including this advice on leadership from Chrys: “Be careful who you follow and if you’re a leader, be careful where you’re leading others.”
She also truly believes kids thrive on consistency, so just because it’s summer doesn’t mean you should give up schedules altogether.
