It seems February is the month for celebrating love. We are surrounded by images of hearts, owers, chocolate, etc. It is important this month, that we remind our children that real love is not shown by Valentine’s Day cards with their favorite cartoon characters or heart shaped candies with sentiments on them. Worldly love can be disappointing, but the ultimate love which comes from our Father in Heaven, lasts. For a true love letter, read your children the Bible:
Deuteronomy 7:9 CIB, “So know that the Lord your God is God. He is a faithful God. He will keep his agreement of love for a thousand lifetimes.”
John 3:16 CIB, “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son. God gave his Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life.”
Romans 8:38-39 CIB, “Yes, I am sure that nothing can separate us from the love God has for us. Not death, not life, not angels, not ruling spirits, nothing now, nothing in the future, no powers, nothing above us, nothing below us, or anything else in the whole world will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Wow, the ultimate Valentine!
