How to Ensure a Great Start to your School Week

Great Start to School Week

Let’s talk – for real today! Let’s get in some nitty-gritty, mind stuff. All right? Can we roll like that for this post? It’ll be fun. Come and join me!! Today, let’s talk about ORGANIZATION. Ugh and happy…all at the same time.

If mom’s not happy, nobody is happy. That means you have to start your school week off on the right foot. Start by getting yourself organized for the coming week. It’s not fun, but you gotta do it for the sake of your sanity and your family. It begins with YOU, Mom. After you are situated with laundry being caught up, meals being somewhat thought out, groceries for lunches, etc. then you can have some expectations of your kids.

I’ve come to the realization that I cannot do it all. If I want time to snuggle, enjoy the kids, and be involved in their lives, I need all hands on deck to keep our ship a sail’n. June Cleaver didn’t write blog posts, organize Pinterest inspired events, and run half marathons. She rocked the dress while she cleaned the house, but that’s just not how it goes in 2015.

I typically take time to regroup from our weekend of fun on Sunday afternoon. I have the kids bring me their backpacks and we make sure homework is done, notes from school are read, etc. We pause and add events to the calendar, items to shopping lists, and we talk about what the week holds. It helps us gear up together for the week we are going to tackle as a family.

Every day God gives us together is a blessing. We want to be our best, do our best, and live for Him. Take time for God. I try to wake up and read at least a “verse of the day” before my toes hit the floor. I breath prayers for my kids while I hurry through my shower. I have to be focused on God and trust Him to give me strength to conquer another week.

Lead your family by example and be an organized mom. It’s hard on everyone if you are flying by the seat of your pants and living day to day without knowing what you have to do next. If you can teach your children to be responsible, organized, and prepared, those are all attributes that they can use in their adult lives too. Let your love for Jesus shine through you and pour onto your family. This is what I have been trying to focus on this year, 2015. May seem simple and silly…but sometimes getting back to the basics is exactly what we need!

What do you think? What have you done with your family on the organization side of life that could benefit me? Please share below!!

Running fills her cup so she can take care of the family God has blessed her with. She is a wordy, type-A, OCD Momma who loves fashion, running, cute babies and more importantly her family and her God. {Life motto :: Phil 4:13}
