Fun Family Art Activity
Winter is a season when we seem to spend a little more time indoors together as a family. Here is a little artistic game that you can play with your kids. This is an old fashioned pastime you may have done when you were little where one person makes a scribble on a sheet of paper and passes it to the next person who then makes the scribble into a picture. It can be taken to the next level by choosing a letter of the alphabet and the picture drawn needs to start with that letter. This is the Printoon version of that game.
Directions: Using a Printoons ink pad or any watercolor stamp pad, one person places a few fingerprints on a page. Printing different shapes like oval, round, long, half, large thumbprints, etc. can make it interesting. The fingerprinter passes the page to the next person who then incorporates the prints into a drawing. The result is a Teamwork Printoon. Take turns being the printer and the artist. This activity is creative, fun, interactive and encourages problem solving around spacial relationships. Of course it is also a great springboard to talk about the fingerprint and how God created us each as unique individuals. You can also discuss teamwork and how sometimes it is helpful to work together because God gave us each different talents. Have fun!
