Today I’d love to share two activities that have been definite “keepers” in our home.
February is a month where we show love to all those around us.
Showing love shouldn’t be contained to just one month out of the year, but in February we get a chance to showcase that love, which ultimately comes from our Heavenly Father.
My children love to give and receive Valentine cards. Long ago we decided to always make these cards religious. This is such an easy way to make the holiday about God and not the world.
Last year my daughter found a great activity on Pinterest – make your own chocolate lip gloss.
This was such a hit! It was also EASY. (note: Buy paint pots at the craft store for lip gloss containers – it’s much cheaper than ordering lip gloss pots!)
She gave each of her friends a bag with lip gloss and a sweet Valentine card.
The next activity (well, really you can do a lot with this one item) involves candy! We don’t eat a lot of candy in our home, but when Valentine’s Day rolls around I always buy Valentine M&Ms.
We have made Valentine M&M cookies and given them to neighbors and friends with Bible verses attached. Our favorite verse is 1 John 4:7
Get creative — you can do so much with a bag of M&Ms!
I love that we can reinforce all of our February Valentine learning with Bible verses about love. In our newest book from Tommy Nelson, God’s Promises for Boys, there is a whole section about love. It’s very sweet and we refer to it often.
Do you have a special activity you LOVE to do in February with your children?
